The Phoenix
By- Anubha Mamgain
Bound in the prison of my own making.
Desperate for a breath? A gasp?
I’d rather live my truth,
Than act out your lies.
Done waiting for a saviour
Who ain’t coming to my rescue.
But who can save me
from the despair of my own making?
Want to let go, let it crumble and fall.
I set the castle on flame
And free myself from the shame.
I Burn up. I burn out.
And from the ashes of my pain,
I rise up like a Phoenix
& reclaim my space.
